Project presentation

Palais is a collaborative project involving 3 buildings to house the first women’s day centre in Brussels, a shelter for women and children and accommodation for people on low incomes.
This project also offers a synergy in the actions of Fair Ground Brussels and the non-profit association l’Ilot, since Palais will give rise to:
– A day centre for homeless women, which can accommodate around a hundred women a day, giving them access to: sanitary facilities, hot meals, psychological support, administrative tidying up and social support, help in finding accommodation, a laundry, training and empowerment activities;
– A temporary accommodation centre for women and children, which will be able to accommodate around thirty people on a transitional basis and provide them with social support while they find stability in their lives;
– Self-contained accommodation for permanent housing made available to the homeless sector via L’Ilot.

The role of Fair Ground Brussels

The entire site is owned by the Fair Ground Brussels foundation, which guarantees the permanent accessibility of the buildings. The cooperative owns the accommodation made available to the homeless sector.
